The Most Reverend Michael Sheridan, Bishop of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, appointed Father Ken Przybyla (pronounced Priz-bíl-a) as the Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish as of September 1, 2011.
Fr. Ken was born in the small town of Peru, Illinois on August 6, 1951. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa and received a Masters in Theological Studies from Notre Dame University in Indiana. On May 21, 1977 he was ordained to the priesthood in Peoria, Illinois.
Fr. Ken's first assignment was the Associate Pastor of a Visitation Parish in Kewnaee, Illinois from 1977-1980. For the next seven years, Fr. Ken served as the Campus Minister at the University of Illinois, at the Champaign-Urbana Campus. From there, Fr. Ken became the Pastor of a Home Mission that involved three parishes and two missions in Mercer County, Illinois. He served there from 1987-1995. In 1995 Fr. Ken asked to come to Colorado where he initially was appointed as Administrator of St. Joseph's Parish in Salida. In 1998 he became the Pastor. Bishop Hanifen assigned Fr. Ken to Pax Christi Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch, CO on July 27, 2000, until Sept. 1, 2011.
In his spare time, Fr. Ken enjoys mountain hiking (he has climbed 23 of Colorado's 14,000 ft. peaks), tennis, racquetball, bike riding and cross-country skiing.
